In addition to my current skincare regime using Mario Badescu products I decided I needed to add a scrub to the mix. I picked up the Almond & Honey Non-Abrasive Face Scrub to try.
I remember using a Nutrimetics Almond scrub many years ago (i’m talking the 90’s people) that was my Mum’s and it has amazing results so wanted to see if this compared. To be honest I am on the fence with this product it’s not all negative but I’m just not super impressed.
After use the scrub leaves your skin feeling soft and clean with no signs of oil or dryness present. It applies and washes off more like a clay mask than other scrubs I have tried and I put this down to the reason why your skin is left with a such super clean texture. The price point in Australia ($20) is great for the amount of product you get and I can see this lasting a far while considering you use this only 2-3 times a week.
The scent is one that I cannot stand. I hate the scent of almonds and to me this is like using marzipan on your face (clearly I also hate marzipan). My only other criticism is that I would like to see more almond pieces in the scrub itself but I’m guessing they have been careful with the amount used due to its “non-abrasive” claims. I had visions of the before mentioned Nutrimetics offering back in the day which had larger pieces of almonds to really give a great scrubbing effect.
I have been using this for the last month or so about 3 times a week. At present I am not seeing in amazing results but again I can’t see any surface dryness and my skin is soft. It is claimed to reduce blackheads and congestion however as I don’t have much of either I can’t comment on its performance in this aspect.
I will definitely be using the remainder of the jar and will wait to give my final opinion until I have used it in its entirety. At present I don’t think I will be repurchasing this again.
